Book, Music & Lyrics by Janet Yates Vogt & Mark Friedman
Based on an Original Story by Melinda Long - Author of the "How I Became a Pirate" Books
The “How I Became a Pirate" crew is back!
A mysterious message left in the crow’s nest of the ship: "If it's a treasure you will know, seek the land of Christmas snow," brings Captain Braid Beard and his pirate crew back to North Beach - Deck the Halls.
Knowing of Jeremy's superior map reading skills and that he is a lad with A Very Strong Wit, they ask Jeremy Jacob to join the crew once again, help solve the riddle, and find the Christmas treasure.
Jeremy Jacob agrees to go and the pirates celebrate with a Pirate Jig - but Jeremy - eager to sail the seven seas once again - reminds the Captain that he must be back in time to perform in his school’s holiday play.
Not knowing what great adventure lies ahead, the pirates rig the ship with a Yo Ho, Who Knows as they set the compass for their voyage to the North Pole. Jeremy insists they rig the ship for "holiday running" and the pirates hang the holiday lights and ornaments on the rigging as they embark.
Everyone on board has a rollicking good time as Jeremy Jacob explains to the crew that soccer is a warm weather sport - and teaches the crew how to Dribble and play basketball.
All play a zany Pirate Board Game, and Pierre - the French pirate cook - shares the secret recipe for making Zee Perfect Christmas Cookie. Approaching the North Pole, the pirates dodge icebergs as they “shiver their timbers” while wishing for a less freezing Holiday on Ice.
After a madcap encounter with what they think is a polar bear, Jeremy Jacob and the crew are welcomed by Santa himself, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Braid Beard, concluding that the two look-alikes must be Twins Sons from Two Different Mothers.
Santa reminds the Pirates that Jeremy Jacob’s school holiday play may be cancelled since several students are sick and can’t be there. He suggests that the Pirates fill in for the kids but Captain Braid Beard declares “Pirates don’t act!”
Sharktooth, the most fearsome ofall the pirates – admits he has been acting in the “Nutcracker” weekend matinees on Bora Bora and gives an inspired sampling of his acting and dancing skills - I'm a Star!Santa confesses that it was indeed he who left the clue in the pirate ship to help them discover that the Real Treasure isn’t a chest of gold doubloons or a mountain of presents, but, in fact, is the spirit of giving.
In the holiday spirit of giving, the pirates agree with Santa that Jeremy's school show must go on, and helped by Santa’s magic, they are whisked back to school in record time - Jingle Arrgh the Way - for a swashbuckling school performance with a surprise appearance by you-know-who while Jeremy and the whole gang join the audience in the show-stopping Big Finale.
The music, the magic, and this delightful tale, brought to the stage by Janet Yates Vogt and Mark Friedman, and based on a story by Melinda Long, author of “How I Became a Pirate,” make “Jingle ARRGH the Way” a wonderful holiday show for the whole family.
